Rock Canyon

Snap Art Rock Canyon

Today was a harsh reminder that we are still in the middle of winter. I am ready for spring and the warmer weather to return. So I decided to look at my photos from a warmer time. This photo was taken in Rock Canyon, Utah this past fall. The colors along the Wasatch Front were spectacular this fall. I loved the way this photo set up, but when I downloaded it to my computer it looked to busy for me. So I took this photo and after my initial processing was complete I finished the editing by using Snap Art 2. After I found the look I wanted I played with the sliders to end up with the finished product.

I like how the dry creek bed draws the eye into the photo.
I like how towards the end of the creek is the red tree. This is the focal point of the photo.
I like the dark cliff at the end of the creek it helps to frame the trees and add contrast to the photo.

Alaskan Husky

Alaskan-Husky
I took the day off yesterday due to an illness. Today these two amazing dogs were at a local school for an assembly. They are two beautiful Alaskan Huskies. I was amazed at the size of these animals. They were much smaller then I thought they would be. I was also drawn to the eyes. The Dog on the right has one blue and one brown eye. The blue of these eyes was the most intense color of blue I have ever seen. They showed so much life in the animals. The presenter was Lorraine Temple. She was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Her assembly was well put together and kept the students focus throughout the entire time.

Thank you for visiting today.
I will have more new stuff again tomorrow.

White Rock Stream

White Rock Stream

Here is another view from the White Rock area of Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. This small lake is being feed by a stream that is coming out of the rock cliff a few yards away. The flow of water would be equal to having your garden hose on full.

I like the colors of the water against the rocks.
I like the blue sky and pond. They add additional color.
I like how the rocks have some yellows and orange coloring.
I like how of in the distance there are mountains with snow.

Thank you for visiting.

White Rock Cliff

White Rock Cliff

This photo is in the White Rock area. It is a five exposure HDR with some Topaz Adjust to enhance the sky. From a distance these mountains look relatively white compared to the rest of the surroundings. When you get in the mountains they have a huge range of color. The colors range from grey, white, yellow to orange and reds. The sand is a brilliant white. This area amazes me. There is a small amount of water, lots of sand, rocks and plenty of vegetation.

I like the color of the sky and the patterns of the clouds.
I like the colors of the rocks.
I would like to have the rocks be a bit brighter, but then again they were in total shade.

Oasis

Oasis

This photo was taken in the White Rocks area of the Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. This photo was a five frame HDR. As I was walking up to the white rock area I was slightly unimpressed by the formation. The rocks had a dirty white look to them. They looked very similar to the Petrified Dunes but without all the color. I was quickly proven wrong. This area was spectacular. It had a small stream that was flowing down one side, and the white rocks had incredible color. There was some reds, yellow, and oranges mixed in. As I followed this small stream it led me to the origin. Here was a small oasis in the desert. The water was coming from the rocks. The sand was white, and plants were growing out of the sand and rocks.

I like the details found in the sand.
I like the color of the plants growing out of the sand and rock.
I like the color of the rocks.
I like the small amount of water that was present.

Provo Airport Sunset

Provo Airport Sunset

The day I took this photo was stormy, but it looked like the storm was ending just as the sun was going down. I headed out to The Provo Airport. The road that surrounds the airport also borders Utah Lake. The sunset was absolutely incredible. The colors were as good as they get. I was just completing the shoot when I turned to the South and saw this reflection. The pond was completely still. Even though this turned out with fantastic color, the pond was as ugly and dirty as you can imagine. This photo is the perfect example of looking all around when you are on a photo shoot. Sometimes the best picture is not where you are aiming the camera. In this case this part of the sunset was the part with the least color, but the only part where there was a reflection.

I like how the rocks and twigs separate the photo.
I like the reflection. It looks almost like it is on glass.
I like the color of the clouds.
