Eagle
27/02/10 15:12 Filed in: Wildlife

Recently I have been taking a look at my past photos. This photo was taken in Cove Fort, Utah last year. I had just purchased my new camera and was excited to try it out. Even though the light looks good with a nice blue sky it was starting to get dark. I wasn’t aware of how good my camera does at high iso so I was a little tentative about going above 400. Because of this the photo was not as clear as I wanted.
I like this photo because it shows where the eagle is going.
I like all the branches.
I like the wings outstretched as the bird is preparing to land.

Provo Canyon

Today was a crazy day. I had a friend who purchased some new equipment and he invited me to go on a photoshoot. Just as I was to leave work I had an issue that came up that needed attention. By the time I worked through the issues I was too tired to go on the photoshoot. Instead I came home and spent some time relaxing. As luck would have it with in a few minutes my wife was commenting on how perfect the sunset was. So tonight I decided to return to an old set of photos and look at sunsets. This was one I have posted before but at a different angle. This is again a seven exposure HDR.
Thank you for visiting today.

Provo River

Today I decided to face reality, we are still in winter’s grasp. This is a photo that I took a few weeks back of the mouth of the Provo Canyon just as the sun was setting. This is a two frame seven exposure panoramic. I used Topaz adjust to bring out a little more color.
Thank you for visiting.

Green River Fall
24/02/10 18:10 Filed in: Fall colors

For today this is about as close to winter as I want to get. This photo was taken last year in Grand Junction along the Green River. I was excited to go to Denver last fall to visit family and to take many cool pictures along the way. The problem was that mother nature got in the way. The week before we left a major cold snap hit on the Eastern side of the Continental Divide. On the Western side the cottonwood trees had some of the most vibrant color I have seen in years. As soon as we hit the mountains the weather had been so cold that all the leaves were frozen off the trees before they could change color. They were all brown and ugly. In this photo the river was framed on each side by these beautiful colors, but there was no way to get in a position to completely capture the moment. On the side of the river we were on there was a thirty foot drop straight down to the river.
I like the intense yellow.
I like the blue sky with clouds.
I like the black trees.
Thank you for visiting.

Stream Bed
23/02/10 19:11 Filed in: HDR

This is a five exposure HDR of a dry stream bed in Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. The night before we arrived there was a strong rain storm. The water rushing down this stream bed rearranged the sand into complex and neat patterns. I love the contrast of this scene. The red sandstone rocks with several lava rocks scattered in for good measure. The black color on the stream bed is the lava sand.
I like the lines and patterns made by the rushing water over the sand and lava.
I like the colors and contrast of this scene.
I like the warm feel of this area.
Thank you for visiting.

Red Rocks and Pine Mountains
22/02/10 20:55 Filed in: Panoramic

This photo is again from two weeks ago when we were in St. George, Utah. In the foreground is the famous Southern Utah red rocks. These are beautifully outlined by the white snow capped Pine Mountains. This photo is a five frame panoramic just as the sun was setting. I love how the clouds are hugging the mountains on the right side of the photo. These clouds are the last remnant of the storm that pounded the area the night before. I also love the rich red rock cliffs and bluffs that pop out in front of the traditional snow capped mountains.
Thank you for visiting. Please let your friends and family know about this site.

Fall Trails

Today I am continuing my protest of winter. My problem was that I spent a few days in St. George, Utah where it felt like spring. When we came back home we were met by a couple of small winter storms. I am ready for some warm weather to return. This photo was taken on my walk up Rock Canyon last fall. I did the final process using Snap Art 2. This program is amazing. It allows people like me to turn a photo into a realistic looking painting. If you get a chance download the program and use it. Snap Art comes with a free trial.
I like the path heading directly into the heart of the color.
I like the green of the pine trees.
I like the black branches.
Let me know what you think.
