Bridal Veil Falls Section

Bridal Section-1

This is a small cutout of yesterday’s photo. The bad thing about the panoramic photos is that on the web it is hard to see the intricate details. I decided to take a small portion of the photo and blow it up so that you can see these details. The portion on the right is where the water is flowing over the ice. This section of the photo is at 33 percent enlargement, but I think it shows the detail much better then yesterday.

I like this look because it shows such detail in the ice.
I like how the ice looks like flowstone in a cave.
I like the flow and the hundreds of ice formations.

Let me know what you think.

I was talking with a friend the other day and he commented that he liked this photo taken in December. It was the place he proposed to his wife in the winter. The only thing that was different was the last post of this photo had much more color to the snow. He said I don’t remember it being that dirty looking when I proposed. The “dirty” look to the snow came from all the detail that was pulled out of the snow by processing the photo as an HDR. I decided to go back and process this as a simple one exposure photo. I actually like this one better. The snow is whiter, the ice is cleaner, and the color is very natural in this photo. Yet at the same time it still has some color in areas of the ice formations.

Thank you for visiting and let me know what you think.

Feeder falls

Provo River Feeder Falls

This summer I went to the High Uinta Mountain range in Utah. After a great day in the sun we were about to leave when we came to the Upper Provo River waterfalls. This is a region in the High Uinta’s that has beautiful pine trees with large rock formations. You could spend an entire summer taking pictures and not even touch this region.
This small waterfall was an overflow area of one of the main Provo River Waterfalls. It was hard to get the right exposure on this photo because the sun was at its full glory.

I like the photo because of the textures on the rocks.
I like the moss under the water.
I like the plant life .
I like the rocks and the steps they take.
I would like to have this picture without the sun.

Thank you for visiting today.

Dragonfly

DragonflyDragonfly-1

The top image was of a dragonfly I showed on this site a few weeks ago. I love taking pictures of these masters of the air. You have to move in slowly and have the camera on rapid fire. I like them because they have so many details. They look so delicate, yet they are predators. I also like how they look like they are laughing at you.

Today and tomorrow’s post will be quick. I have a couple of very long days at work. I will have some winter items again on Friday. I will post tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting.

Pushing Snow

Pushing Snow

Here is another photo in my recent series from Saturday. This is again a three exposure HDR that was hand held. Part of the reason I took these photos hand held was because I was feeling lousy. I wanted to get out of the house, but I just didn’t have the energy to haul the tripod with me. I know this was a terrible excuse, but in the end I had a good time on the day. I like this photo because it has color during the winter.

I like the orange and yellows against the white snow.
I like the play of the blue sky it goes well with the snow and the rusty machine.
I like how the machine seams to be overpowered by the snow.

Let me know what you think, and thank you for visiting the site today.

Sinclair

Sinclair
Here is another photo from the western part of Utah County. This was again caught with a three exposure HDR hand held. I shot this one from a good distance from the small Sinclair building. I did this so that Nebo Mountain in the background would appear taller then the building.
Sinclair

This is the same building processed using Snap Art 2. I like how the painting sofware gives the photograph a completely different look.

I like the play between the building, the tree, and the mountain. They all give depth to this photo.
I like the tree it looks like it is protecting the building and adds texture.
I like the color of the field and tree. This color offsets the blue tint of winter.

Let me know what you think.

Chevrolet

Here is another photo from the Western parts of Utah Valley. This was from a small junk yard. Most of the homes in this area had no trespassing on them. This junk yard would have been fun to be able to enter and spend all day in. This photo was taken from the side of the street. It was again hand held at Iso 200 and three shots.

I like how everything around the truck looks black and bleak.
I like the bright yellow of the truck. It is a stark contrast to the rest of the vehicle.
I like how with this photo there is no question as to what the subject is.
Everything in this photo draws the eye to the front of the truck.

Let me know what you think.
